Abstract
Many researches have highlighted the language skills of children in their first years of life, about all in the command of their native language and other non-specific languages of their environment. This has led to the emergence of movements in favor of the introduction of new languages at an early age in formal educational systems of the European Union. Spain has not fallen behind in this matter, and has integrated the teaching of a foreign language, English, from three years old (stage of Preschool Education) through the enactment of the Education Bill of 2006. This confirms, in our immediate context, these movements for linguistic proficiency in the early years, given the capabilities that show the subjects with respect to the acquisition of the own language or a foreign one. Our contribution, however, want to go one step further. We propose a series of educational and methodological guidelines for the introduction of the English language from the earliest years of life in those Schools and Centres which cover the first cycle of Preschool Education, if these wish to give an innovative character and distinction to their educational project by offering these teachings.
