Abstract
This paper aims to address the concept of freedom in Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and understand how this principle may represent a fundamental and essential basis for the curricular design and development for the primary and basic school. In this sense, the great Italian pedagogist can be considered a forerunner of curriculum.
